On August 4th 2007 Lee Hazlewood took the elevator upstairs to have a drink with Hank and Johnny. Meanwhile, down here The Don Darlings are trying to fill the boots of some mighty good dudes and having a good time whilst doing it. The Don Darlings have been described as a raucous mixture of country, blues, folk and rock.

As well as the legends mentioned above comparisons have often been made with artists such as Tom Waits, Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen. And to your modest surprise the songs are about death and drinking, regrets and redemption. The songs are also about, as we do on occasion, tresspassing into irony to get the right perspective on things. Because when you’re smeared with poison ivy you’re sure gonna need that smile.

The band has a distinctly dark southern sound and got started a little over a year ago. In other words - being at the right bar at the right time and under the right influence, we made friends and began walkin' the trail. Anyway, we’re happy to be here, we’ll be around for some time with our straggling look on tradition, filling out those boots. And as the Reverend calls, these country-rascals will follow.
